Danny Aiello has a smallish part but plays it so well. There are some truly great moments. Jacob looks through them and finds a picture of Gabe. Which is so perfect and accurate. There are a few flaws, however. There are two scenes near the beginning where they actually act like a couple.
The next incident is the next day when they joke a bit about how they met. His happier, more peaceful hallucinations involve her. There are scenes that support this.

Later she throws them all down the incinerator. Which could be seen as one of the demons ripping his old life away from him. There are also times when the movie tries a bit too hard to paint her as untrustworthy but sometimes her reactions are reasonable. Also, when Jacob is seeing things he yells at Jezzie and pushes him. Once it gets to the Army conspiracy plot the movie drops Jezzie completely, almost. She does show back up in the alternate ending and it would have made a lot of sense but they left it out.
Lyne explained it as thinking it was just too much of an assault on the senses at that point and went with a simpler ending.
